Watermark<\/a> SS&E<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Watermark is an early retention system designed to help students persist and increase enrollment. Through Watermark, students and designated staff will be notified of academic performance through automated and manual alerts, messaging, and tasks. Watermark automatically imports data from our Learning Management System and Colleague (Self Service, Datatel), including grades and attendance. Faculty will continue to update attendance weekly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the responsibility of faculty?<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

In accordance with our institution\u2019s focus on the retention of students in classes and programs, it is the college\u2019s expectation and the instructor\u2019s responsibility to send a Watermark referral on any student struggling in their course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, automated Attendance and Midterm Grade alerts will be sent to students. To ensure that students and designated support team members are receiving alerts reflective of real-time progress,  faculty should maintain weekly attendance and report mid-term grades. This is required for Watermark to operate effectively.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

When should faculty submit a Watermark referral?<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

While the Watermark system is a retention strategy, it is not the first option for classroom management, and should not be used as a replacement for best practices and due diligence by the instructor, including but not limited to calling, emailing, Canvas messaging, or meeting with the student to address concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
